Your data, explained

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what SoulName processes when you create a Chinese name, why we process it, and the choices available to you.

Last updated: August 21, 2026

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to soulname.space and the SoulName Chinese name generator (collectively, “SoulName,” “we,” “us,” or the “Service”). SoulName lets you describe a naming wish and receive AI-generated Chinese names, pinyin, and explanations without creating an account.

2. Information we process

  • Naming prompts and generated results. We process the text you submit so that the Service can generate names. Do not include names, contact details, health information, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information in your prompt.
  • Device and usage information. Our hosting and analytics providers may process IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, timestamps, clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, performance information, and diagnostic events.
  • Language preference. Your selected language is stored in your browser’s local storage. If you have not chosen a language, the Service may use your IP address to determine your country and choose an initial language.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may set or read cookies and similar identifiers to measure traffic, understand interactions, and improve the Service.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, troubleshoot, and secure the name generator.
  • Send your naming prompt to an AI service and return generated names to you.
  • Remember your language choice and select a suitable default language.
  • Measure site traffic, diagnose errors, and understand how visitors use the Service.
  • Prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations.

4. AI processing and prompt handling

When you generate names, your prompt is sent from SoulName’s server to OpenRouter and an available model provider. Those parties process the prompt and generated output under their own terms and privacy practices. Provider selection and retention practices may change when model availability changes.

SoulName does not require an account and the application is not designed to save your prompts or generated names in a SoulName user database. However, hosting, security, OpenRouter, and model providers may process request metadata or retain data as described in their policies and settings. Avoid submitting confidential or sensitive information.

5. Service providers

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling of information is governed by their respective terms and privacy notices.

  • OpenRouter and model providers process prompts and outputs to provide AI inference.
  • Google Analytics measures visits, device information, and use of the Service.
  • Microsoft Clarity provides interaction analytics, such as clicks, scrolling, heatmaps, and session replay. Sensitive form content is intended to be masked by the provider, but you should still avoid entering sensitive information.
  • ipapi.co and ip-api.com may process your IP address and return country information for automatic language selection.
  • Cloud and hosting providers deliver the Service, maintain security, and may process server logs.

6. Retention and security

We retain information only as reasonably necessary to operate and secure the Service, satisfy legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Retention periods controlled by third-party providers are set by those providers. Language preferences remain in your browser until you clear site data or change the preference.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. You submit information at your own risk.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Do not include personal or sensitive information in naming prompts.
  • Use your browser settings or extensions to block or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking them may affect analytics or language selection but should not prevent basic name generation.
  • You may use Google’s Analytics opt-out tools and Microsoft’s available privacy controls.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, or to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

8. Children’s privacy

SoulName is a general-audience creative tool and is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to data processing in their location. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact us so the issue can be reviewed.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Service, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted on the Service when appropriate.

10. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact the SoulName operator at [email protected]. We may need enough information to understand and verify your request, but please do not send sensitive identification documents unless requested through a secure method.
